Allison Baird

Speech-Language Pathologist

Allison Baird is one of the most influential and innovative speech-language pathologists to work in her field. Her career, which spans almost 4 decades, ranges from hospital based care to research, and also private practice. Throughout her career, Allison has been focused on training and mentoring the next generation of speech therapists while ensuring she’s at the forefront of a rapidly changing field.

During her career, Allison has been a mentor to almost 40 young speech-language pathologists. With her continued drive to improve her quality of care, she feels a strong responsibility to pass on her acquired knowledge to the next generation of speech therapists. At the same time the she is exposed constantly to the newest ideas and technological advances that are happening in the university research settings.

Allison’s specialties include working with children with severe disabilities, and adults who have survived a stroke, are battling dementia, and people of all ages who stutter. Under the most difficult circumstances, Allison creates and environment where people thrive, have hope, and look forward to their next meeting.

Over the years Allison’s professional and personal experience with dementia has given her a deep understanding of the grief journey. She has channeled this experience to help her clients, and their families, to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

She has a spent half a decade pioneering tele-rehabilitation, a modality of service that allows individuals to receive speech therapy over the internet in the privacy of their own home. An invaluable tool for people with mobility issues or those living in remote communities. Allison is nationally and internationally recognized for her work and research on the effectiveness of tele-rehabilitation for aphasia and how it produces gains equivalent to in-person treatment.

Chelsea Illchuk

Speech-Language Pathologist

Chelsea is our graduate clinician bringing experience from her clinical internships with Tahlequah Public Schools and Northeastern State University Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic. She is passionate about working with children and adults with various types of communication disorders and has conducted articulation, fluency, and language management. She also has experience with early intervention, accent/dialect modification, acquired neurogenic speech disorders and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Her academic career began at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology while playing on the women’s division 1 hockey team. She pursued hockey professionally in Austria before she decided to go back to school to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. Chelsea received her Post-Baccalaureate in Communication Disorders from Minot State University in North Dakota but deferred grad school for a year to help with her sisters’ new and upcoming bakery, Jenna Rae Cakes. After a sweet year of baking, Chelsea pursued her goal of becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. She is now in her final practicum with SpeechWorks Inc. and will graduate with her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in May 2017.

  • How long is each session?

    Each session is 50 minutes. Available in person or online.

  • How many sessions do I need to take?

    The number of sessions depends on the profile of each individual. Many of our clients start to experience a noticeable difference in just 3-4 sessions. Also, the amount of effort you put into practice will make a huge difference as well.

  • How about the price?

    The initial assessment is $150, and the following therapy sessions are $110/session.

  • Can I use my insurance coverage?

    Yes, all sessions provided by our registered speech language pathologists are eligible for insurance coverage.
